Independent, technically grounded, and built on two decades in oil and gas engineering and audit work.
Melea Bonasso founded Bonasso Engineering and Audits, LLC in July 2026 after more than two decades in oil and gas engineering and audit work. She earned her BS in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 2003 and began her career as an Associate Production and Development Engineer at ConocoPhillips in Houston, where she supported remedial and recompletion programs, decline curve analysis, and acquisition/trade data management.
She went on to serve as Petroleum Engineer and Safety Coordinator at Jones Energy, Ltd., preparing reserve and economic reports, developing type curves, and negotiating ad valorem tax valuations. From 2008 onward she worked as an independent consulting engineer and later as a Contract Audit Specialist with Covenant Contracts Services, Ltd. (2011–2023), performing gas purchaser payment audits and engineering/audit support for clients.
Since 2018, she has served as Engineer and Vice President of Makar Production Company, overseeing audits, reserves evaluations, valuations, tax negotiations, and engineering support for patent filings — work that has contributed to three issued U.S. patents and one pending patent application related to oilfield natural gas processing and product utilization.
Bonasso Engineering and Audits, LLC continues this work as an independent practice, bringing the same technical rigor to a broader base of clients.
Independence means the analysis serves the client, not a house position. Clients can expect direct responsiveness, technical depth built on decades of hands-on production and audit experience, and a level of engineering rigor that doesn't get diluted by scale.
